Rain has Fallen

I lay slumped lazily on a deewan which is a sofa cum couch quite common in Indian households. It was a Saturday in the month of June and it had been raining since morning. I didn't have college that day and didn't have anything to do at home either. So I sat there on the deewan looking outside the window thinking about random things which I often used to do as all that I could see outside my window was a wall with fence with nothing like moving cars to distract me. Beyond the wall was a lemon tree which used to have those tiny green-yellow lemons which more often than not became the object of my attention. Sometimes I used to steal them too using my custom hook, making sure that no one was watching. I remember it was a neat little contraption made out of some leftover iron wire from some electrical work at home. So as I was saying I was sitting there wondering about nothing and everything while watching the lemon tree and then it happened. The thunder !

The rain has fallen,
Everything seems so quiet.
Except the lonely birds chirping.
And then, there's that soft clap of muffled thunder,
Which seems like a beckoning call from beyond.
In that all-pervading silence.
